BLADE project selected among the five projects funded by Ca' Foscari's SPIN 2025 call – May 2026
The project BLADE – Born-digital Literary Archives DNA Exploration, with PI Emmanuela Carbé, is among the five projects selected under the SPIN 2025 – Supporting Principal INvestigators call of Ca' Foscari University of Venice. The project addresses the challenges of preserving, analysing, and interpreting born-digital literary archives, proposing a methodological framework that integrates digital philology, digital forensics, and archival science.

At the international conference Who is Responsible for the Archives? An Interdisciplinary Approach to Ethics in a Digital Age (Aston University, Birmingham, 26 June 2026, hybrid format), Lucia Giagnolini and Mariangela Giglio (Alma Mater Studiorum UniversitĂ di Bologna) will present the paper Unintended Records: Acquisition, Privacy, and Scholarly Access in Born-Digital Literary Archives.

"Archiving the Web: Theories, Tools and Practices" – Aspettando AIUCD series, 20 May 2026
As part of the Aspettando AIUCD 2026 series, organised by the ALDiNa group of AIUCD, the webinar Archiving the Web: Theories, Tools and Practices will take place on 20 May 2026 (5:30–7:30 pm). Speakers are Alessia Del Bianco and Adele Gorini (DBC, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna), with an introduction by Lucia Giagnolini (DH.arc and Historical Archive, Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna). The event addresses the main challenges of preserving online content, introduces key concepts such as Reborn Digital, Complex Object and Significant Properties, and offers a comparison between SolrWayback and the Wayback Machine.
15th AIUCD Annual Conference – 3–5 June 2026
The 15th annual conference of the Associazione per l'Informatica Umanistica e la Cultura Digitale (AIUCD) will be held in Cagliari in June 2026, organised by DH UNICA – Centre for Digital Humanities of the University of Cagliari. The theme of the conference will be "Digital Humanities and Public Engagement: Practices and Perspectives".

As part of the Connected Community for Digital Initiatives of EUTOPIA (coordinator prof. Simone Ventura, Universitat Pompeu Fabra), two events dedicated to born-digital literary archives will take place in Barcelona:

Workshop "Digital Forensics in the Humanities" – 8 May 2026
The workshop Digital Forensics in the Humanities, organised by the Bit Philology project group at the University of Bern, brought together scholars to discuss applications of digital forensics in the humanities. Among the contributions, Emmanuela Carbé and Mariangela Giglio presented Between Philology and Digital Forensics: The Case of Franco Fortini, focusing on the use of forensic methodologies in the study of digital and hybrid literary archives.
Lecture by Mariangela Giglio on born-digital literary archives - 22 April 2026 - University of Texas
On 22 April 2026, Mariangela Giglio gave a lecture entitled Gabriel GarcĂa Márquez’ Digital Archive - A Forensic Approach to Digital Authorship. The lecture explored the application of digital forensics methodologies to born-digital literary archives, with particular attention to the case of Gabriel GarcĂa Márquez’s digital archive preserved at the Harry Ransom Center.
Lucia Giagnolini’s doctoral dissertation defence - 26 March 2026 - University of Bologna
On 26 March 2026, Lucia Giagnolini defended her doctoral dissertation entitled Rappresentare il digitale d’autore: dal file system al knowledge graph. The research proposes a model for representing born-digital literary archives, integrating file system analysis, archival description, and knowledge graph technologies.
